Authentic Business: Why My Logo Is a Lotus Flower

Building an authentic business starts long before you ever write a single post. It starts with knowing what your brand actually stands for, deep down, before you ever design a logo or write a caption. For me, that meaning is wrapped up in one simple symbol. My logo is a lotus flower, and I picked it on purpose.

The mud before the bloom

A lotus doesn’t start out beautiful. It rises up out of the mud, a long, unglamorous journey before it ever gets to bloom. I’m not sharing that because I want anyone to struggle. I’m sharing it because I think most of us are somewhere in the mud right now, and I don’t think enough people are honest about that part. An authentic business doesn’t skip the mud. It just refuses to hide it.

What an authentic business actually feels like

When I think about the feelings I want people to have when they encounter this brand, five words come to mind: relief, recognition, belonging, empowerment, and readiness. Relief, because so many people have been stuck in a fragmented mess of half-finished courses and disconnected tools, and that chaos finally gets to lift. Recognition, because being understood before you’ve had to explain yourself is rare, and it matters. Belonging, because this is meant to feel like home, not just another program. Empowerment, because the goal was never to create dependence, it was always to help people believe they can actually do this. And readiness, because once the overwhelm clears, people stop spinning and start moving.

What this brand refuses to be

Part of building something authentic is knowing what you’re not, just as clearly as what you are. This brand is not greedy, not manipulative, not unsupportive, not overwhelming, and not too technical. It won’t use countdown timers or upsell chains designed to squeeze more out of people. It won’t leave anyone isolated on an island to figure things out alone. And it will never require someone to become an expert in tools they never wanted to learn in the first place. Those aren’t just nice ideas. They’re filters for every decision made going forward.

Why I go deeper than most

I’ve talked to hundreds and hundreds of coaches over the years, and I’ve noticed something. Almost none of them talk about how it actually feels when things aren’t working. You’ll hear “here’s the problem, here’s my solution,” but rarely much past that. Not the part where you want to give up. Not the quiet desperation of trying hard and still not seeing it move. I think that part needs saying, not to dwell in it, but because you can’t build real trust with people by skipping the hard part of the story. That willingness to go deep, even when it’s uncomfortable, is part of what makes this an authentic business instead of a polished performance of one.

Collaboration over competition

Underneath all of it is a belief that collaboration beats competition, every time. I want to build something where people lift each other up instead of quietly guarding what they know, where someone else’s win doesn’t threaten yours. When people actually work together instead of competing, everything gets better, for everyone, not just the person in front.

The bloom is still real

None of this means the growth isn’t coming. It means the growth has a season before it, and that season deserves honesty instead of a highlight reel. That’s the whole idea behind the lotus, and it’s the same idea behind building a business that’s actually authentic instead of just well branded.
